Be good to yourself

I remember well what my midwife said to me prior to being discharged with Munchie from the hospital, “when she sleeps, you sleep”. I took her at her command and rested when I could, the housework could always wait! I have carried this philosophy over to my wider wellbeing and I try to ‘be good to myself’. This means different things to me, be it going for a swim when I can, coffee with friends and the odd pedicure. I’ve also managed a weekend away with my girlfriends sans infant. Munchie now goes to school 3 days a week and aside from my chores I go to yoga. Today I drove to the city to catch up with one of my best friends. It’s such a tonic! There is nothing like being in the company of good friends. Motherhood is a challenge and we all need to look after ourselves.
